one of the most important things i've figured out ON MY OWN is what a true friend is.
there are:
~fun friends
~aquaintances
~real friends
FUN FRIENDS are those people that you go out, have a blast with, and that's about it. no deep convos, shared secrets. fun friends come and go based on school, work, location, etc. easy to define, easy to find.
AQUAINTANCES are those that aren't enemies, but you really don't know know them. you know who they are, maybe a few random facts (oh, she has 2 boys and lives down the street), and not much else unless it's learned thru a mutual friend. the convo with them usually goes:
"Hi, how are you?"
"Good, how are you?"
"Good."
"Good."
maybe a "how's billy's knee doing after he fell off the chair?" blah blah. nothing truly sincere, nothing deep, yet not mean or rude at all.
REAL FRIENDS are those who are there for you when you need someone. they listen when you babble on and on about the most ridiculous things and still listen when you have a life-altering problem. they know your secrets, yet wouldn't even consider telling a soul. they watch your kids so you can take a nap, get coffee, go for a run, or have a nice quiet date night. they do those fabulous random acts of kindness for you even when you never even hinted you needed one. they're a shoulder to cry on, laugh with. they help out when you never knew you needed they help in the first place. time is not an issue for a real friend. hours can pass and it will seem like minutes. they do favors without asking why. obv there are countless other things that these ahhmazing people will do for you. they are priceless, irreplaceable. to say the least.
i try my hardest to be a real friend. sometimes i succeed, many times i fall short. other times i just plain suck. i will continue to try my hardest to be the person i would want to be friends with. no one is perfect. NO ONE. but we can always strive to be. and no one is the perfect friend, even a lifelong best friend. but we can always try.
sooo...
BE THE FRIEND YOU WANT

Staying positive (part 2)
6. A nice cold glass of Oliver Winery's Soft Red. Ahhhh...
7. Glittery nail polish..because everyone needs a little sparkle.
8. Letting Kimber paint my toenails with the above mentioned glittery nail polish.
9. The aftermath of a good run.
10. Jars of Clay...not necessarily the band (even though they're pretty awesome), but the memories that their songs bring back from high school youth group.

Staying positive
recently, i've been a little irritated, stressed out, pissed off, etc about a lot of random stuff. so to offset that, i'm going to try to post at least one positive thing that happened each day. here goes...
1. Kimber said "apparently" and used it correctly. She's 4.
2. Jersey Shore is on, meaning I get to spend quality time with my cousin who lives several states away :)
3. I got cookies and cream ice cream. Low fat and it still tasted wonderful.
4. Kimber let me sleep til 9 this morning.
5. My arms, back, and shoulders kill me today. I did boxing on the Wii yesterday and the pain feels awesome. It shows that I actually worked my body.

C25K update...
So..I'm currently on week 7 on the Couch to 5K program. All I can say is UGH! I'm so not a runner. I am pushing myself more and more though. Two Fridays ago, I had to run 20 minutes WITHOUT walking. Huh? No walking? So I made it about 10 minutes before I had to take a breather. But I guess that's better than nothing, right? Then last Friday, I had to run 25 minutes without walking. Don't get me started on the mini panic attack that I experienced when I read that. I think I made it 12 min, then took a potty break. (A sidenote: my "potty breaks" when running are really just an excuse to sit for a few minutes.) Today..yes 4 days after my last workout and 2 days late oops..I had to run 25 min AGAIN. What? Where's my walk/run/walk? Whatever. So I actually did go pretty long - about 21 minutes - without walking. Then I had a REAL potty break. Dangit. But I did impress myself. Maybe I'm not a lost cause after all.

On your mark..get set..
Okay so I recently decided to get off my you-know-what and start training to run a marathon...well, maybe a mini marathon...okay, I'll be honest...if I actually get to a 5K, it will be one of the biggest accomplishments ever. I'm doing the couch to 5K program, which has gotten amazing reviews. Easy enough. I'm currently on week 2, workout 2 where you're supposed to walk for 2 min and run (jog) for 90 seconds. I totally got these numbers mixed up, but stuck with it considering I hadn't passed out in the middle of the sidewalk yet. Not too hard. Walk-run-walk. I can do this. However, today I looked ahead at the coming weeks' workouts. In 2 weeks I imagine my motivation will decrease umm..A LOT. Way more running, much less walking. Yeah. Stay tuned...

random thoughts..or something
I get online (or on the computer, not the phone) after Kimber goes to bed. VERY rarely do I get on while she's awake. So during the day, I make a mental list of sites I need to look at, people I need to email or FB message, etc. I also get brilliant ideas for my blog. Unfortunately, by the time I actually get on the computer around 9:30ish at night, I have completely forgotten what any of those brilliant ideas were. So frustrating.
I am watching part of the royal wedding right now. Coincidentally, the same 30 min or so that I caught this morning while getting ready. So nothing new. Blah. I've been reading on fb all day about how some people were disappointed with Kate's (or whatever her new official name is..Dutchess of something, right? I'll never get it.) dress. What? That dress was beautiful! No, it wasn't the typical Alexander McQueen style OR was it the trendy American-ish gown. But it was seriously the classiest and not boring wedding dress I've ever seen. OH, then there are the ones that say "they'll never last" or "I give them 5 years". Wow, how encouraging is that. I'm going out on a limb and will assume that these people's marriages/relationships aren't the best. How can they be with an attitude like that? I personally wish this new married couple the best and I do hope that they squash the skeptics' predictions and have an incredible marriage.
So I guess that was the topic for tonight. Too bad I couldn't remember whatever I was thinking of earlier...I bet it was awesome. Oh, and by the way..the little kids that were in the wedding are the cutest ever! :)

Happy (a day late) Easter!
Easter is such a happy holiday. It's just so sunny and bright! Even if the weather isn't. All of the cute little girls are in ADORABLE frilly dresses and even the little boys look so stinkin cute in their tie/suit/sweater vest/whatever their mom could bribe them into wearing that morning. And don't even get me started on the babies. Beyond words oh my gosh precious sweetness. I love it. I think it's also an excuse for some moms to put away the pants and break out the sundress. Even if there is a cardi over it :). I'm guilty of this and proud of it.
Springtime. Bunnies, and other baby animals frolicking in a grassy field filled with sunshine. Sigh.
Someone once said that Easter is a holiday "just for the kids" with the chocolate eggs and jelly beans.
Umm...stop. Wait. Hold the phone. Are you kidding me? Just for the kids?
Easter is for EVERYONE. And not in the candy sense. But in the Easter sense. Easter is also known as Resurrection Sunday. Now, unless those chocolate eggs are going to come to life, dancing around the room, I'm betting that term is talking about something else. Easter is about Jesus, plain and simple. Jesus died for everyone (not just the kids) and rose from the dead 3 days later. That's why we celebrate Easter.
He did this amazing act, this incredible gift for us. I can't even imagine it. Letting my child die so that everyone else can have eternal life. I'll be honest here. I don't know if I could do that. No, I'm darn sure I couldn't.
This is probably one of my top 3 fave songs...call me a sap but I sometimes get a little teary-eyed when I hear it. HE did THAT for ME? Wowsa. Now that's love.

you have to SCREAM!!!
This afternoon, I was lucky enough to take Kimber and her two friends, who are 10 and 12 (age difference is seriously not an issue..they love each other!) to Orange Leaf to enjoy some frozen yogurt. This was Kimber's reward for being good while I did a whole week's worth of errands that I had been putting off. Hey, it's sunny outside so that's where I will be. (I was totally going to take her there regardless of her behavior, but she was actually good. Don't tell her this.) On the way back, we were listening to Taylor Swift. Kimber, of course, knows 80% of the words to all 14 songs on the CD. She was showing off, singing away when one of her friends said "Kimber, you have to scream when you sing!" I almost had a heart attack. Kimber HAS screamed before. And it is NOT pretty. Kimber screaming = mommy headache. There was no screaming, just LOUD singing...BEAUTIFUL singing...coming from my backseat. I'm serious. Those three girls were singing their hearts out and I loved every minute of it.
When I sing in the car, I prefer to look at it as my audition for the Grammys. I mean, if those awards were based only on my performance in the car, I would have won at least 5 or 6 of those fancy things. And they would be sitting on my mantle too. But I honestly can't remember the last time I just SANG my heart out. Not worrying about staying on key or getting the words perfect. So that's definitely something I plan on trying next time I'm (alone) in the car. Not singing, but screaming. Uninhibited and free.

For Christmas, Santa got me an iTunes gift card. Yay! Well, long story short...I bought my music, but had to erase the music that was already on my iPod in order to sync the new stuff. I'm still not sure why, but oh well. So right now, I'm going thru the CDs to put stuff back on the iPod. During my CD search, I found a bunch of old crappy CDs that I apparently enjoyed at one time or another....I'm leaning towards just that one time. For example, I have both Sister Act 1 AND 2. I think I bought it just for this song...
I also have a nice selection of Boyz II Men. Okay, okay, they weren't bad and I'm not embarrassed to own any of their stuff, but here is some awesomeness...
and I believe this was even on the cover of my 8th grade yearbook...
and the oh, so sappy...
I also found some Puff Daddy & the Family. I won't post any songs. I don't want to lose any friends. I have many MANY more that I'm honestly just too ashamed to mention (Cool Runnings? What?). However, I rediscovered Jars of Clay. LOVE THEM!
So, while I found some that I'm pretty ashamed to even say that I own, there are quite a few that I'm sooo adding to my iPod, like, now. Oh, and I didn't watch these entire videos so if they're screwing up, sorry. Blame YouTube.
